Your truck will not last as long unless you take proactive measures to protect it. While there are several truck parts that are essential, such as a carburetor, don't think you can avoid purchasing protective truck parts such as wheel splash guards and tailgate protectors. These protective parts will reduce the amount of maintenance that your truck will need.

1. Splash Guards

Splash guards protect the back of your truck from rocks and other forms of debris that get kicked up. Also you will not have to wash your truck as much after you have gone off-roading because less mud will be caked on your truck. They are especially important if you frequently go off-roading. Also, you can use splash guards to display witty messages.

Splash guards are made either out of metal or rubber. Part of what helps you choose the right guard is which type you aesthetically prefer. But overall, the metal guards provide better protection because the mud flaps can bend. Then, they will not provide adequate shielding against the mud and rocks that are kicked up onto your truck. The metal splash guards are usually made out of either aluminum or stainless steel, since these materials are the most resistant to corrosion.

2. Tailgate Protection

The tailgate often experiences abuse if you do not get a tailgate protector. Not only does it protect the tailgate from anything you drag across it, but the tailgate protector also is essential for tailgate barbecues by keeping the fixings from damaging your tailgate. Make sure both the top of the tailgate and the load surface are protected.

Another concern with tailgates is tailgate jacking. Many truck drivers back up close to the side of the building to make it more difficult to remove the tailgate. However, you can also purchase a locking mechanism that makes it harder for the tailgate to be detached from your truck. The tailgate locks are also likely among the cheapest truck parts you can purchase.

3. Mats and Spray-In Bedliner

Protect the cargo box with a spray-in bedliner. This is a spray made out of Urethane that will help your truck bed last longer. The bedliner preserves the contour of the truck bed, unlike with a bed mat. It protects the truck bed better because there is a risk that something can get underneath the truck mat, causing damage.

Bed mats were the original option for protecting a truck bed. It protects the floor of the truck bed, but not the wheel wells. Usually, they are made out of rubber.
